Enjoy the spectacular landscapes of the Hajar Mountains and the green oases of Fanjah and Birkat al Mauz before reaching the historic town. Once arrived in the second-biggest tourist destination Oman’s, explore the imposing Nizwa Fort built in the mid 17th century and famed for its 40m-tall round tower. It’s worth climbing to the top of the tower to enjoy a superb panoramic view of Nizwa, plain surrounded by a thick palm oasis and Oman’s highest mountains. Move to the famous Nizwa Souq, which is home to locally crafted goods, such as stunning silver jewellery and silver khanjars (a traditional dagger). Continue the journey to Al Hamra, one of Oman’s most atmospheric traditional towns and afterwards visit Misfat al Abryeen, one of its prettiest villages. Last but not least, enjoy breathtaking views from the 3005 m high Jebel Shams, the highest mountain in Oman.
